Kimberly-Clark Professional’s AIRFLEX* Fabric Towel is produced using the highest international standards for environmental management.
The production process of AIRFLEX* Fabric towel embraces Kimberly-ClarkProfessional’s R5 environmental philosophy to renew, reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink.
renew | reduce | reuse | recycle | rethink
| Renew: | All fibre in AIRFLEX* Fabric Towel comes from accredited and renewable forests. Our suppliers are certified to internationally recognised forest management standards so that all trees are harvested responsibly and replanted promptly. Kimberly-Clark does not log old growth forests for any of its products. |
| Reduce: | The AIRFLEX* Fabric used to make hand towels is designed to absorb more water, faster than many conventional towels. Conventional paper towels have tightly packed fibres which cause water to sit on the towel, slowing absorbency and requiring more towels to be used. AIRFLEX* Fabric technology creates absorbency cells in every towel so the towels absorb more water, faster, requiring less towels and generating less waste. The unique technology used to make AIRFLEX* Fabric uses fibre which is whitened using Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) techniques. This means there is no chlorine gas used in bleaching or processing the pulps. |
| Reuse: | By-products from the manufacturing process, for example conversion waste, are re-pulped and reused which greatly reduces the amount of manufacturing waste going to landfill. |
| Recycle: | Post consumer waste (recycled fibre) is limited in supply and is not used to manufacture our products because of the high environmental cost of transport and de-inking. However, whilst our products are made from renewable plantation fibre, recycled fibre is used in the production of cardboard packaging. Using recycled fibre in packaging is a more appropriate use as cardboard can be recycled several times unlike hygiene products that are single use. |
| Rethink: | We invest millions of dollars in rethinking and continuously improving our environmental management. The introduction of AIRFLEX* Fabric Technology is just part of Kimberly-Clark’s commitment to creating the most environmentally responsible tissue manufacturing process possible. |
